Contemporary Floral Artist: Victoria Bellas Carter

Victoria graduated from Huddersfield University with a first class honours degree in Surface Pattern Design but far from being enticed by the excitement of the capital, she chose to stay in the North East of England, in the attractive and picturesque village of Staindrop.

As a freelance Artist and Designer Victoria has developed her own unique and individual style working with coloured tissue papers, tearing, cutting, layering and manipulating shapes to create vibrant and beautiful images of flowers.

As she works on a design, it is very exciting to see how the textures, colours and shapes develop, not really seeing the full impact until much later when the piece has had time to dry.

With a fascination for colour and inspired by a true love of flowers, Victoria loves experimenting with coloured tissue papers, mixing the colours like paint to create texture and depth.

Victoria's time recently has been devoted to starting family life, prior to this she has had Art work on display in a number of galleries across the country. Creating designs for Tigerprint and Hallmark cards with a variety of these images on greeting cards and giftwrap, sold in Marks and Spencer.

Victoria has also enjoyed working on projects with children in local schools and colleges.

Victoria draws her inspiration from the wonderful colours around us, with a particular love for the flowers in her garden and those found in the village and woods close by.
